Psoriasis Symptoms vary from intense pain and itching to the eruption of red plaques on your skin and even stippling on your nails and arthritis in the joints.
Add to that many cases are confused by the examining Doctor with eczema and that Psoriasis can vary as a results of your stress level and you have a puzzling and frustrating set of symptoms with real difficulty in diagnosis.
What is the Worst Symptom?
This depends on how Psoriasis develops in you. It may be the intense embarrassment caused by your appearence and how others react or it may be the intense pain and itching. Skin problesm are very personal and though this is not a contagious disease others may not know that and you may need to “Take the bull by the horns” and tell them.
Some people find that their symptoms are lessened by moderate exposure to sunshine; others find that their diet alleviates symptoms.
It is sensible to make careful changes in your life and see what works for you. And of course to check in with your Medical professional.
Even though this seems to be a genetic disease that does NOT mean that you have to suffer these symptoms all your life. It simply means that you have a predisposition or “weakness” but by making some changes in your lifestyle you may find your symptoms fading or vanishing!
For some guidence on what changes could be helpful check back here at www.naturalpsoriasisremedies.com and perhaps try out the suggestions in Katy Wilson’s new book called “Psoriasis Free for Life” where she share her experience of years of suffering from Psoriasis and what she found worked.
I’ll do a review on the book soon, so stay tuned.
Feel free to leave a comment on what is the worst Psoriasis symptom for you. and if you have found anything to help.

Bathing in mineral rich waters such as in the Dead Sea has been a simple natural and enjoyable treatment used for many people with skin problems such as Psoriasis.
As far back as the ancient Egyptians “health tourists” visited the Dead Sea and took full advantage of it’s healing properties.
So what is special about the Dead sea, and what could be responsible for the benefit gained by so my people over thousands of years?
The answer is the minerals in the sea water.

The Dead Sea is huge mineral healing bath
The mineral composition of the sea water is special . it is very rich in some minerals much used by Natural Health Practitioners to help their patients.
Here is a Table from the Wikipedia showing the mineral composition of the Dead Sea

Main minerals in the water of the Dead Sea
Dead Sea water is very rich in magnesium -sometimes called the magic mineral. It is very soothing and relaxing as wellas having more healing properties which I’ll blog about soon in a separate post.
How does this help you?
About now you may be wondering how all this can help you. If you are not in the position of being able to go to the Dead sea and stay in one of the health spas for a few weeks – is there another way to benefit?
Yes there is because you can recreate some of the benefits gained in your own bathroom simply by getting a box of Dead sea mineral salts and bathing in it whenever you like.
Your local health store may stock it or perhaps if they don’t have what you want you could try shopping for Dead sea minerals at Amazon. One caution I’d like to give is to be very choosy about what you buy. I have looked at several of the products that claim to be Dead Sea minerals and many of them have scent and other additions which may not be good for your skin.
I had a rummage around on Amazon to show you what I recommend and this is as good as I could get Natural Dead Sea Salt – Unscented, Treat Psoriasis – 10 Pounds
If you know of a better Dead Sea salts product please let me know – leave a comment.
Best of Health to You!

Psoriasis, pronounced “Sore eye a sis” is a disease that afflicts about 3% of the population. It occurs worldwide and affects both sexes. It is known to run in families but can skip a generation.
It is named after the Greek word for “itch” and the main symptom is the intense suffering of the painful itching. That is what the sufferer is aware of what others see is red patches of skin covered with silvery scales. The scales slough off and resemble dandruff.
What is happening within the layers making up the skin is an increased rate of cell division. The cycles that regulate the growth of skin cells become unbalanced and the skin cells in Psoriasis reproduce up to 1,000 times more rapidly than normal leading to a pile up of cells yielding the silvery scales on the outer layer of the skin.
Psoriasis is most common on the elbows and knees as well as on the scalp, but can appear anywhere on the skin.
This can make the psoriasis sufferer very self conscious and even depressed
Types of psoriasis
Plaque Psoriasis
This is the most common form of psoriasis and is named after the areas of white scales or plaques. It affects 80 to 90% of people with psoriasis. Plaque psoriasis usually appears as raised areas of inflamed skin covered with silvery white scaly skin – the plaques.
Guttate psoriasis
This is shown by many oval spots on the skin over large areas of the scalp, trunk or on the arms and legs
Flexural psoriasis
This occurs in folds of skin – in the armpits for example or around the genitals.
But Psoriasis can also involve the nails and even the joints so we have
Nail Psoriasis
Pitting of the nail occurs and many lines going across it. Under the nail may be discoloured and the nail itself may be crumbly and loose.
Psoriasis of the Joints
This affects about 10 to 15% of Psoriasis sufferers and mostly affects the joints of the fingers and toes
After reading all this you may feel depressed but I want to emphasise that many simple changes in diet, the use of special supplements and the sensible use of mineral baths and sunshine may make a huge difference.
